Rapid Recovery Programme
The Rapid Recovery Program is a system for minimizing pain and minimizing the physiological input of the operation to the patient. It involves using painkillers to control pain before the operation and minimizing any physiological disturbance to the patient after surgery so they can mobilize as early as possible after their joint replacement. Generally speaking patients are encouraged to get out of bed and walk approximately two hours after their joint replacement therefore enabling the average hospital stay to be significantly reduced.
